Mt Matier Twin One Couloir

Last year at the end of long spell of unstable snowpack conditions, Jason Kruk, Craig McGee, and myself headed out to Mt Matier and skied the Twin One Couloir as we finally had the stability to get on something a bit more fun than low angle tree skiing.

We zigged and zagged up to the base of the couloir, moving past some beautiful ice features in the glacier, and finding some pockets of deep windslab as well.  At the base of the couloir, we headed up on the right hand side entrance, as it seemed to give us the most protection from anything coming down.

The Twin One Couloir is a beautiful obvious line off the backside of Mt Matier, and is easily accessed by the Cerise Creek trail into the Joffre Group.  Not really any other parties in the area, we lucked out, the snow was light and knee deep.  Couldn't find a better way to spend a day on the Duffey!
